1. What led you to become a therapist, and what keeps you engaged in this work today?
I became a therapist because music and art were always meaningful ways for me to process emotions and make sense of life when I was in my youth- and even now as an adult. After studying music, diving deeper into songwriting, performance, and music business- I faced a challenge that I needed to process and music helped me grow through it. In different seasons of my life I saw how powerful creative expression can be in supporting healing and connection, and studied Music Psychotherapy in all the ways music can support wellness for all ages, cultural backgrounds, and various abilities. What keeps me engaged is witnessing small but meaningful shifts that help clients feel more grounded and supported. Being able to be a helpful person to my clients with my particular musical skills brings me an incredible sense of fulfillment, and I am honoured to walk alongside my clients providing support.
2.How would you describe your therapeutic style, and what is it like to work with you?
My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-led. I offer a safe, steady space that can include conversation as well as music when helpful. Sessions are paced gently and shaped around each client’s needs and goals.
3. What kinds of concerns or life challenges do you most enjoy and feel most skilled in supporting?
I enjoy supporting clients through grief, anxiety, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and identity-related concerns. Expressive therapy can help clients explore complex feelings that may be difficult to put into words. This is especially helpful during times of loss, illness, or major change.
4. Who tends to be a good fit for your approach to therapy?
Clients who appreciate a thoughtful, reflective approach and a calm therapeutic presence tend to be a good fit. Many are open to creativity but do not need prior experience in music or art. My approach works well for those seeking a supportive, non-rushed space.
5. What values guide your work as a therapist and the relationships you build with clients?
My work is guided by compassion, respect, authenticity, and collaboration. I value building trusting relationships where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. I believe creativity and connection are helpful in supporting the mental health & wellness of a client.
